There is no list of pre-selected companies. In fact, we strongly encourage you to look for and find a company yourself.

During your Bachelor’s you can do an internship during the summer months (June, July, August, this is without credits) or in the first semester of your third year if you are a student of Business Administration, Economics and Business Economics, or Econometrics.

During your first and second year of your Bachelor's, you can only do an extracurricular internship during the summer (June, July, August).

The curricular bachelor internship requires 336 hours, spread over a minimum of 10 weeks. It is possible to do an internship simultaneously with your minor, but this depends on the amount of hours you’ll spend on the internship and the number of hours you need for the minor.

Yes, that is possible, but you would have to compensate for the 3 electives that you would otherwise take at the UvA during that time period. This way, you might be delayed in your studies. To prevent this, you can do 1 or 2 extra courses in your second year, and/or take courses alongside your internship or thesis.

The internship possibilities for third-year international students are the same as for Dutch students. Only the contract is different: as an international student you need the Standard Internship Contract. We encourage students to keep their electives next to the internship. However, if the internship is full-time or you cannot keep all the electives, it is possible to do the electives the following year.

Yes, this is possible. You will need a Standard Internship Contract signed by the company of your internship, the UvA and yourself. Please make sure that you meet the requirements. You can find all detailed information on our special page for non-Eu/EEA students.

We suggest ways to practice your job interview, and our careers advisers can help you prepare for the interview in an individual coaching session. You can schedule a coaching session with them via our Career Portal. Be sure to bring the vacancy, your cover letter and CV to the session.

We offer a few options to improve your CV on your own, including the world-renowned digital CV Check by VMock. You can also book an individual coaching session about your CV with a career adviser.

For Non-EU/EEA students a work permit (called a ‘tewerkstellingvergunning’) is required. With this permit, you can either work full-time during the summer months (June, July, August), or you can work a maximum of 16 hours per week during the year. You cannot do both.
